A journey and a destination: how to make living streets

Talk
Tue 19 Jul 2016

We demand a lot from our streets. They are where we live, a way of getting from A to B, and the place where neighbours meet and community networks are built. They also need to take into account sustainability, encouraging cycling and walking, accessibility and waste requirements. Yet a street could provide all these things and still not be a success.

This event brings together architects, landscape architects, and developers to discuss the design and planning tools that help turn a street into a place.

Speakers:

- Richard Harvey, design director at PRP

- Lynn Kinnear, principal director of Kinnear Landscape Architects with Sue Ball, director of Media and Arts Partnership

- Michael Mulhern, director of planning at Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation

- Tom Titherington, executive director of business development and market intelligence at Catalyst

- Chair: Lewis Blackwell, curator of the exhibition, Re/making The Street

This event is free to attend but booking is essential.

This event accompanies Re/making The Street, an exhibition curated by The Built Environment Trust, and is part of the London Festival of Architecture.
