Retrofit Talks is a webinar series platforming architects and product manufacturers to discuss completed or ongoing retrofit projects.
Part of Retrofit 24, these talks give a voice to built environment professionals, allowing them to detail in their own words the process, challenges and outcomes of their projects. Connecting people, and allowing for cross-country dialogue, Retrofit Talks allows the audience to learn from our presenters and ask questions in the Q&A. If you have ever wondered about the process behind a building join us for these lunchtime sessions and have your queries answered.
Royal Arsenal Riverside features retail, commercial and new build residential units alongside recently refurbished listed buildings. It was a brownfield site and previously home to some of the UK’s largest munitions factories. Now the mix of old and new elements exist harmoniously alongside each other. Senior Architectural Systems (SAS) provided the fenestration for this project supplying the SF52 Curtain Wall system and SPW600 aluminium windows and they worked closely with Soundcraft, who installed these. The building now compliments and pays homage to the industrial heritage of the site.
In this CPD accredited session Andrew Cooper, National Specification Manager at SAS, details this project with a focus on how one approaches a retrofit project, the unique challenges posed by retrofit and how these differ from new build projects. As well as the principles of curtain walling and recycling aluminium.
SAS can provided a CPD certificate for attendees if they require one.
