Going Global with the Curators Collective

Event video
Fri 10 Jun 2022, 2pm-3pm

From Venice to London, to around the world! We hosted an online discussion with the Curators Collective to explore international responses to the theme of the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale; ‘How will we live together?’

The Curators Collective (CC) is a coalition of National Pavilion Curators who participated in the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2020 curators from countries across the globe gathered for the first CC meeting and confirmed their shared interest in turning the Biennale’s postponement into an opportunity to express greater solidarity. In keeping with this initial spirit, CC meetings have evolved into an ongoing dialogue and exploration of collaborative possibilities for the 2021 Biennale and beyond. The shared goal is to investigate new avenues for collaboration suited to the challenges we all face.

It was an opportunity to hear from international curators about the afterlife of the national pavilions at the Venice Biennale.

Speakers included:

  • Alex Furunes and Sudarshan Khadka, Philippine Pavilion
  • Hae-Won Shin, Korean Pavilion
  • Toshikatsu Kiuchi, Japanese Pavilion
  • Sofía Piñero and Domingo González, Spanish Pavilion

The event was chaired by Madeleine Kessler and Manijeh Verghese, curators of the British Pavilion.
