Awards
Mon 12 Dec 2016

From aesthetics to health to sustainability, the work of landscape professionals has a significant public impact. Yet the benefits are not always fully understood. The Landscape Institute Awards acknowledges and celebrates the landscape architects, managers, planners, scientists and urban designers who create and maintain great places for the public good.

This year, for the first time, the Landscape Institute Awards 2016 shortlist is exhibiting at The Building Centre. To complement the exhibition, we invite you to celebrate the awards and discuss what they tell us about the landscape profession and where it may go from here.

Recent recipients of the LI President’s Award will present their award-winning projects. They will describe the project in brief, and update the audience on the impact it has had so far.

LI President Merrick Denton-Thompson, along with previous presidents Noel Farrer and Sue Illman, will then discuss the President’s Award and the landscape industry in general. They will examine what the Award tells us about the profession, how it is changing, and where it may go in the future. They will also ask what effect the profession has had on policy, the development of the built and natural environments, and on society as a whole.

Hattie Hartman, Sustainability Editor of the Architects’ Journal, will chair the discussion.
