Urmet expands its portfolio with London’s leading property developers, St. George

Case study

Urmet continues to dominate the high-volume, high-end residential door entry market with the award of another prestigious development contract, working alongside London’s leading property developers, St George. Fulham Reach, positioned on the north bank of the River Thames and with far-reaching views across London, consists of highly specified river-view apartments and penthouses. The development enjoys excellent transport links and the on-site facilities include a spa, swimming pool, residents’ lounge, concierge, billiards room and private wine storage.

Fulham Reach is a phased project. Block A is the first phase, with 138 apartments, while the site-wide network will allow for future phases (totalling 750 apartments) to be connected to the centralised concierge for central management of the video entry and access control system. The brief from the client was precise and Urmet was able to deliver the powerful IPervoice IP-based door entry system, coupled with its latest range of full-IP PoE 7” Imodo touchscreens, Folio hands-free colour monitors and Elekta Glass and Steel entry panels and PIO controller.

The PIO controller is a two-door base controller connected to an IP LAN Interface. Two Wiegand readers can be connected to the base controller, with a two-door expansion card added to the base unit to increase capacity up to 4 doors. All access permissions are saved in the IP interface so that in the event of a network failure, access can still be granted by the IP interface, complying with 2014 ‘Secured By Design’ requirements. The IP interface and PIO controller base are powered locally by a 12V dc PSU, which can be connected to a battery for back-up in the event of power loss. Urmet was able to meet all the requirements set by St George and also provide additional solutions that would otherwise be lacking from the spec, thereby demonstrating the full capability of what an Urmet IP system has to offer.

Resident Lift Control was also part of the system, adding yet another layer of security. When entering the building, residents simply present their proximity token to any reader. This then calls the lift to the ground floor and automatically takes residents to their floor. A similar function, operated via a remote lock-release button on the video monitor in their apartment, also allows residents to send the lift to the ground floor when someone calls to visit them. The Visitor Lift Control then only allows visitors to select the floor they are visiting, which means they are prevented from entering the rest of the building.

Commenting on the project, Mark Hagger, Urmet’s Sales and Marketing Director, said, “It was a pleasure working with the St George technical team during the specification for the Fulham Reach project. St George had a clear vision of what it required technically, while also drawing attention to details such as RAL coloured bespoke posts housing the Elekta glass panels to match the façade of the building. It certainly is a great example of a developer and manufacturer working together to deliver a high-end, high-volume residential development.”
