Alan Simpson, MP for Nottingham South, has recently had a Worcester Greenstar 24i system boiler and Greenskies solar water heating system installed in his Kennington home, in Greater London, after claiming he wanted to be the ‘Greenest MP’ in the country.

Alan, 58, was campaigning against fuel poverty and climate change long before he became a Labour MP in 1973 and his commitment to energy efficient and environmentally friendly technology is part of his every day lifestyle.

In Parliament, Alan is a leading campaigner on a wide range of issues concerning the environment and the economy. Consistently fighting for a safer, healthier environment during his career, he is currently Chair of the Parliamentary Warm Homes Group.

Alan explains: “Its one thing for politicians to tell people they should be more energy conscious and environmentally aware but we need to lead by example.”

“My Worcester solar water heating system has been fantastic, even on a cloudy day, I’m getting two thirds of my hot water costs paid for by the sun. On a sunny day I get all the hot water I need - and more! “I can’t speak more highly of the Worcester trained installers, they left the house tidier than when they arrived. They were extremely efficient and explained the system to me, answering all of my questions.”

The system was installed in the loft of Alan’s three bedroom mid-terraced mews home and specified by expert Worcester installers who always ensure that the most efficient system, for a particular home’s requirements, is fitted.

The installation was completed by Neil Cornes of NCC South East Ltd, which provides a full range of central heating, gas and plumbing related services to the whole of the South East of England. The company are an approved Worcester specialist and accredited for solar installations. Worcester’s solar panels have been designed as a complement to existing heating systems which use a hot water cylinder. The existing cylinder was exchanged for a cylinder with two heat exchanger coils; one from the boiler in the property and a second from the solar panels. The Worcester Greenskies FK240 Solar Panels are a perfect partner to the new range of condensing Greenstar regular and system boilers, with a variety of different models available in both natural gas, oil and LPG.
