Ruukki Construction’s SP2D PIR UK sandwich panels were submitted for testing to the BS8414 standard. The panel was tested at the British Research Establishment (BRE) facility in Watford and is confirmed to meet the criteria stated within BRE 135, Fire performance of external thermal insulation for walls of multi storey buildings. The certification means that Ruukki Sandwich panels SP2D PIR are approved to be used on structures over 18 meters high and meet strict fire and building regulations and standards.

Fire spread in multi storey buildings is disastrous, costly and a serious focus throughout Europe and the world. Ruukki is committed to innovation, research and development and rigorous testing of its products and is delighted to be able to offer a safer solution for multi storey buildings.

The new certification on Ruukki’s SP2D PIR UK panel has already enabled them to win a new prestigious hotel, leisure and conferencing facility in Birmingham with many other multi-storey projects in the pipeline. The panels also have LPCB approval and are available to be specified on NBS Plus.
