Greenwich Park was the home of Equestrian sport at London 2012. An entirely temporary venue was constructed within the boundary of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site. This was the setting for the Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Competitions and three disciplines of the Olympic Modern Pentathlon.

The venue was carefully laid out to respond to the magnificent setting of historic Greenwich. The centrepiece was a 20,000 seat arena positioned on the Park’s Grand Axis facing the Queen’s house which was used by the Olympic Family. Other facilities were carefully knitted in and around the landscape and within other historic buildings.

The Cross-country discipline of the Eventing competition took place on a 6km course laid out around the park, making the most of its challenging topography and spectacular views.
