EnviroVent’s new training initiative receives BPEC’s seal of approval

News
Award winning ventilation manufacturer, EnviroVent, have recently received the British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) seal of approval to become an approved Training Centre for the new Domestic Ventilation Training Programme.

Following the significant changes to Approved Document F (ADF) of the Building Regulations last October, domestic ventilation has now become a ‘Notifiable Work’. This means that all ventilation provision in new build properties must now be commissioned by a suitably qualified person resulting in a brand new vocation– the Domestic Ventilation Installer.

Charlie Bisby, EnviroVent’s installations director explains, “The Competent Persons Scheme is designed to meet the requirements outlined in the Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide 2010 for the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning and provision of information for fixed domestic ventilation systems into both new and existing residential buildings. The syllabus covers the theory behind ventilation systems as well as including practical exercises such as the commissioning of a Heat Recovery system. At the end of the course, there is a multiple choice assessment which each individual candidate needs to pass at the end of the course to become a BPEC Certified Ventilation Installer.”

Recognised by both HVCA and the NICEIC, the two day course is open all external candidates who have a number of years experience in plumbing, heating or electrical engineering (or alternatively who either have or are in the process of completing NVQ Level 3 in plumbing, heating or electrical engineering).
