Electric heating systems are growing in popularity and the increased customer demand presents a real opportunity for installers across the country. In light of this, leading manufacturer, Redring, has launched a new training course, covering the installation, repair and maintenance of electric flow boilers.
The only third party accredited course of its type, it is designed to cover the installation of electric boilers up to 12kW and provides information on how electric boilers work, health and safety requirements, site surveys, DHW considerations, whole system installations and heat loss calculations. The course also involves an in-depth training session on two of Redring’s market leading electric boilers, the Powerstream Professional and the Powerstream Ascari.
“With the popularity of electric heating systems on the rise, we realised that there was a training gap that needed to be addressed,” explains Andy Mosedale, Redring. “By working closely with third parties such as certification body Logic and GTEC Training we feel confident that our electric boiler training course addresses the needs of installers looking to widen their portfolio of skills and take advantage of the opportunity electric heating systems presents. In addition, a mains water pressure training course covering G3 regulations can also be taken to complement the flow boiler course.”
Understanding that time means money for busy installers, the course can either be taken at Redring’s centre of excellence in Peterborough or it can be brought to installers via a mobile training unit. The course is designed to cater for groups of a minimum of six and maximum of ten.
The one-day course has been developed in conjunction with UKAS accredited Certification Body, Logic, and is delivered by training provider, GTEC Training. The course involves both a theory and practical module with a short multiple choice Q&A examination at the end resulting in a certificate of competence.
