East Ayrshire Council Specify Tobermore Manhattan Plank Paving for Local School

Case study

Tobermore’s Manhattan plank paving has provided an innovative hard landscaping solution for East Ayrshire Council on their recent redevelopment of Onthank Primary School in Kilmarnock.

East Ayrshire Council specified Tobermore’s linear Manhattan to be installed at the 1,698 sq. m school grounds as a means of rejuvenating the entire appearance of the school, creating safe, child-friendly play areas for the young pupils at the school, and putting measures in place for disabled access.

The project was managed by Extraspace Solutions from Belfast and carried out by Brodie Engineering of Ayrshire, and was successfully completed in 2015.

Tobermore’s Manhattan plank paving system is perfect for installation on pedestrianised areas and offers unique aesthetic appeal; the product features a sparkling granite aggregate surface layer that is guaranteed to transform the appearance, character and style of any application it is incorporated in.

Manhattan is manufactured in single and mixed length units and a selection of striking and soft colours which enable the creation of unique mixed patterns to maximise visual impact.

Tobermore’s Manhattan in sophisticated Graphite and Silver was installed at Onthank Primary School, creating a contemporary new look for the educational facility. On a practical level, the incorporation of two product colours has also been used to indicate boundary areas and pathways around the school grounds.
