Country-Chic Meets Modern Living with David Wilson Homes in Nunthorpe

4 Jan 2016
Case study

When PDP Associates was seeking a "high quality" hard landscaping product for David Wilson Homes' lavish development Grey Towers Village in Nunthorpe, the vintage style and charm of Tobermore's Tegula and Retro block paving proved to be the perfect solution.

Situated in the heart of Nunthorpe, Grey Towers Village consists of a stunning collection of traditional three, four and five bedroom properties ranging in price from £249,995 - £744,500. PDP Associates crafted a variety of home designs within the site that together combine the best of country living with the convenience of modern day amenities.

Piers Palmer, Owner at PDP Associates Ltd, explained that his objective in designing the project was "to produce a high quality, luxuriant hard and soft landscape setting that would add kerb appeal to the high-end properties”, and help them look “established as early as possible for selling purposes"

Piers commented on the choice of block paving as a hard landscaping material at Grey Towers Village.  "Block paving was ideal for creating focal points, identifying different zones, and avoiding
large expanses of tarmac."

"Although cost concerns were raised, as ever with block paving versus tarmac, the quality of the products presented by Tobermore's North East sales team convinced the client that block paving was the way to go."

As a possible solution for the development, the Tobermore team introduced PDP Associates and David Wilson Homes to Tobermore's Tegula Trio block paving, a three-sized product that showcases an aged, antique appearance, and Retro block paving, a slender, tumbled product that produces a European, cobbled look.

The decision proved to be a very easy one, as Piers explained. "Tobermore's explanation of the difference between its products and other manufacturers was just fantastic. We could see the depth of product colour, the range of colours available, the laying possibilities and the unique aesthetics, such as the tumbled edges of Retro.”

The traditional aesthetics of Tegula Trio and Retro block paving was the ideal hard landscaping choice in meeting the country-chic style of the homes at Grey Towers Village.

Kerbstone was also supplied by Tobermore to create a nostalgic edging finish - an ideal accompaniment for the aged finishes of Tegula Trio and Retro block paving.

Piers reflected on the project: "I am absolutely delighted, as is the client, with the end-result and the hard landscaping materials supplied by Tobermore.

“I was already a Tobermore advocate prior to the development of Grey Towers Village and, following the completion of this scheme, I would most definitely recommend Tobermore products and services again.
