Control your garage door with your smartphone

News

There are all sorts of different smart home devices these days, such as smart thermostats that precisely and quickly automate the heating and cooling of a home, or smart lighting controlled via voice control, or even smart appliances such as toasters and fridge-freezers that can be remotely monitored and controlled. Now leading UK garage door manufacturer, Garador, have now introduced a new range of electric operators with smart functionality. Their new range of electric operators enables you to automate your garage door and control it from your smartphone or smart home system. An automatic garage door offers added convenience, allowing you to open your garage door at the touch of a button. Plus, a built in mechanical lock means that no one can forcibly open your garage door, thus providing an extra layer of security than garage doors without it.

BlueSecur App

Garador have developed the new BlueSecur app, for Android and ios smartphone devices, as well as a built-in HCP interface on the operator unit for smart home systems like Google Home Hub or Amazon Alexa. You can view the BlueSecur app here:

The BlueSecur app is free to download from Google Play or The App Store. It allows you to control the open/ close, partial opening and operator light functions on a Series 4 GaraMatic electric operator. One user key is included with the operator, out of the box, but others can be acquired through in-app purchases, so if you have a friend or relative that needs access to your garage door an additional user key will make it possible to do so.

The GaraMatic 10 and GaraMatic 20 electric operators both have a built-in Bluetooth receiver, so they can be controlled via the BlueSecur app. Notably, the Bluetooth receiver can be switched on and off. The GaraMatic 9 however, is not supplied with a Bluetooth receiver, but one can be purchased as an option and fitted retrospectively.

With the introduction of this new app, homeowners are no longer solely reliant on hand transmitters to open and close their garage door and could just opt to use their smartphone which they are likely to be carrying with them anyway. But it is worth noting that the operators are still supplied with two 4-button micro hand transmitters, for those that don’t want to use a smartphone to control their garage door.

A New Generation of GaraMatic Operators

The new BlueSecur app has been designed to work exclusively with Garador’s new Series 4 generation of GaraMatic operators, of which there are three models:

  • GaraMatic 9 (optional Bluetooth receiver)
  • GaraMatic 10 (integrate Bluetooth receiver)
  • GaraMatic 20 (integrated Bluetooth receiver)

Given the growth in popularity of smart home systems, such as Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Home Hub, the GaraMatic 10 and GaraMatic 20 models also include a HCP-bus connection to connect one of these smart home systems. A self-closing timer and third door position for ventilation are additional features which further enhance the offering.

All of the new generation of electric operators also include energy efficient LED Lighting and a stand-by mode in which the operator consumes less than 1-watt of electricity; helping to contribute to lower energy bills.
