Less is More: A story of Longquan Celadon

Celadon is a type of pottery originating from China. It is glazed in a green-blue colour which mimics green jade, often incoporating deliberately made cracks. The most famous and established of the pottery producers, Longquan Kilns (Zhejiang province, China), have been producing celadons for 1700 years. Celadon pottery display superb craftsmanship and the objects are created for everyday life.  

See this China Design Centre exhibition in the Main Gallery which showcases classic examples of Longquan Celadon. Learn the history, explore the process of producing this style of pottery, plus experience the ancient wisdom and philosophy inherited in the making process. You will also have a chance to purchase some of the items on display.
