60 Buildings 60 Years

Exhibitions
28 Jun–12 Sep 2012

To mark the Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics we are celebrating the best of London Architecture from the last 60 years.

The last 60 years has seen an unprecedented number of buildings projects take shape ranging from post-war reconstruction to the wholesale development of Canary Wharf as a new business district. All of this has been predominantly led by British architects and engineers.

The 60 projects on show have been selected by a panel including Victoria Thornton, Peter Murray, Ken Powell, Lyn Bryant and Catharine Croft. Many of the entries are generously supported by individuals and practices and where this has happened we have acknowledged their contribution. Without their help this exhibition would not have been possible.

The work displayed contains both familiar favourites and hidden gems and appeals to both locals and those visiting for the 2012 games. It certainly demonstrates a remarkable cross-section of design talent and approaches that continue to make London, in our view, the most exciting city for modern architecture in the world.

The exhibition forms part of the London Festival of Architecture 2012.
