What’s next for the Green Belt?

Talk
Mon 25 Apr 2016

As the Government mulls over the findings of its consultation exercise, we look to pin down the principles and strategies that should guide future planning for the Green Belt. Do conservation and construction have to be in conflict or is there a middle way?

Expect sparks to fly and light to be shed as our panel explores the opportunities. From making the case for improved protection to planning for new garden cities and other development, our speakers will bring to life the issues that surround the future of the Green Belt.

Speakers include:

- Peter Nixon, director of land, landscapes and nature at the National Trust

- Jonathan Manns, director of planning at Colliers International and author of the London Society’s White Paper on the Green Belt

- Barbara Weiss, director of Barbara Weiss Architects and co-founder of the Skyline Campaign

- Nicholas Falk, founder director of URBED

- Merrick Denton-Thompson, president elect of the Landscape Institute

Chaired by Colin Tweedy, CEO of The Built Environment Trust
