China-UK ideal town and garden city summit

Conference
Tue 26 Apr 2016

China’s national policies now promote the development of small towns in response to huge issues of congestion, pollution and lack of facilities in large Chinese cities. This summit brings together 33 Chinese representatives to exchange ideas with UK urban specialists about sustainable, liveable and thriving towns. The event will give architects, masterplanners, urbanists, environmentalists and engineers a chance to share ideas of what makes an ideal town. Attendees will also learn about the current issues in China, regarding town and city life.

The summit will debate new Garden City ideas and will look at the best practice for eco-towns, market towns, community engagement, creative quarter and elderly living as well as town centre design and management. The summit will also introduce examples of new Chinese towns and compare them to similar projects in Europe and the UK.
