Build drawing skills through life drawing

Short Course
Mon 4 Sep 2017

This course offers a thorough introduction to a variety of drawing methods and materials, and will develop core skills over four life drawing classes.

You will leave the course with an understanding of how to establish proportions and use both line and tone to communicate volume and mass. Through close study of the human form essential observational skills will be developed that will be transferable to any subject.

Once representation of form has been achieved students will be encouraged to use more expressive and experimental approaches. Each week you will leave with a number of drawings using different materials and varying speeds: from quick sketches to longer studies.

All materials will be provided, including graphite, charcoal (willow and compressed), conté, soft pastel, oil pastel, markers and pens, wash (gouache or ink with brushes), white, coloured, grey and black papers in sizes A5-A2.

The course is open to students of all ability levels.
