Developed by Swiss colour designer Daniela Späth, Cool Down Pink is thought to decrease aggression in a variety of domains, including prisons.
Statistical evaluation of research carried out in 2010 showed a significant decrease in blood pressure within one to five minutes of being in the Cool Down Pink cabin. The colour has been part of Switzerland’s penal system for six years, applied to prison cells, which according to prison directors greatly reduces aggressive behaviours in inmates. However, the response from former prisoners have not all been positive. This may indicate that a colour’s impact on wellbeing is context-driven, subjective and/or temporary.
