Shaw House is located on a 10 metre wide by 47 metre deep waterfront. It overlooks the English Bay and Vancouver’s skyline including the North Shore Mountains. As the house is only 8 metres wide due to its site the architects built upwards and outwards. Rooms have high ceilings which enlarge the spaces. A lap pool connected to the terrace runs along the house and brings light into the entrance space. The house was built using reinforced concrete to withstand lateral forces of its location.
