Plyskin, Lindey Cafsia

Industrial designer, Lindey Cafsia, has developed Plyskin, an alternative building insulation material as traditional insulation can be hazardous for the health of both humans and the environment.

With a concept focused on bio-based or recyclable materials and the biomimicry of polar bear skin and fur, Cafsia developed a new material. His Plyskin, is an almost ‘cuddly’ facade panel, which comprises of three layers, inspired by polar bear fur. The material is able to absorb heat, which can be stored and reused, and can also serve as thermal insulation. It is visually and texturally pleasing and has excellent sound absorbing properties.
