Xtratherm, a leading manufacturer of high quality PIR and phenolic rigid board insulation, has invested in a new manufacturing facility in Belgium’s Walloon region. The new factory, which will be operational from next summer, will manufacture and distribute Xtratherm's high performance rigid board insulation products and will create approximately 100 jobs as the new factory gathers momentum. The initial phase of the investment will comprise production and warehousing facilities of approximately 15,000m2, with capacity for future expansion.
An established player in the UK and Ireland, Xtratherm's sales in mainland Europe have grown significantly in recent years. Sales in Europe represented close to 25% of the company's overall turnover in 2012.
Eoghan Hynes, Founder and Managing Director of Xtratherm comments: "Our new facility in Belgium is a significant milestone in Xtratherm’s development. We have ambitious expansion plans for the coming years and key mainland European markets such as Benelux, Germany and France are central to these objectives. The new site in Belgium, close to the city of Charleroi, is ideally located with excellent access to key markets. In the future it will supply all of Xtratherm’s mainland European customers, who are currently supplied from our two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in the UK and Ireland.
"We acknowledge the excellent support provided to date by both the Wallonia Government and State Agencies and look forward to developing these relationships in the years ahead," says Mr Hynes.
During a visit to Xtratherm’s Headquarters in Navan, Ireland, Wallonia Foreign Trade and Economics Minister, Jean-Claude Marcourt said: “A new investment in Wallonia is always excellent news. This one in particular will create quality jobs in our region, and along with other similar investments clearly gives a renewed impetus to the area”.
