has once again pledged its support to the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust by donating drainage products during the restoration of a 30 metre long section of Canal at Pewsham.
Wavin has supplied 500mm diameter Twinwall and fittings that will be used to carry water during the rebuild project in Wiltshire. These drainage products will allow the diversion of the stream that runs underneath the canal while 10 metres of exposed culvert is rebuilt and the towpath is restored to its original position and level.
“With the heavy winter rains last winter, the century old brick built culvert sprung a leak which has necessitated repairs,’ commented Ray Canter, Wilts and Berks Canal Trust. “Wavin very kindly donated the pipe system which is being used as a temporary measure during the repair of the culvert.”
The Wilts & Berks Canal links the Kennet and Avon Canal at Semington, near Melksham, to the River Thames at Abingdon. As part of the restoration, Wilts & Berks Canal Trust work parties are installing fencing, connecting bridges and drainage as well as undertaking tree maintenance and removal where required.
