Vortice Ltd has supplied its Vort Prometeo heat recovery system to a contractor in Cornwall, Tee Ltd to install within an old mine engine house at Wheal Kitty near St Agnes. David Freeman of Tee had installed the Vort Prometeo in other developments and with that in mind came up with a scheme to improve the working environment within the building, which is now being used as offices and a meeting/training room.
Vort Prometeo is a heat recovery
system designed to the highest environmental standards, with a tremendous heat exchange efficiency of up to 92%. It has Appendix Q eligibility when installed on a ground breaking Kitchen plus up to 8 additional wet rooms configuration. David Freeman said: “Its installation at the Cornish engine house has had an added bonus, before the units were fitted the humidity was around 75 - 85% and after installation of the units it is now steady at around 50-55%.”
Designed primarily for the housing market, with the Code for Sustainable Homes embedded into its design ethos, it extracts from wet rooms and recovers heat for use elsewhere in the building. It has DC Motors, remote status display of humidity and CO2 levels plus an automatic (or user controlled) boost speed.
In the case of the Cornish engine house, one of the companies using the building is UKNetWeb, a web development company. Director Toby Parkins said: “We were looking for an environmentally friendly solution including energy efficiency to improve the working environment. David Freeman at Tee Ltd had been so pleased with the energy efficient results of the Vort Prometeo at another development that he recommended it to us and we’re delighted with it.”
