Timber merchant buys second Weinig moulder

The leading West Yorkshire timber merchant Arnold Laver has invested in a second cutting edge machine – to keep it at the forefront of its market.

Arnold Laver Timber World has invested a further £150,000 in another Weinig Powermat 9” x 6” moulder – the second this year following the earlier purchase of a 12” x 6” .

Both are based at Laver’s Manningham Sawmills, Bradford, and they will ensure the company can cater for all of its customers’ demands, as they ask for faster deliveries, one-off profiles and best quality.

Both hi-tech machines have seven tool holders one with 8000 rpm cutting speed, the second 12,000 rpm giving an even higher quality finish, meaning no need for sanding. The new powerlock tooling reduces change over and downtime, greatly improving productivity.

Besides the Powermat 1000, Timber World has also bought the supporting tool room equipment which includes a Rondamat 960 profile grinder and Opti Control measuring stand.

Arnold Laver Timber World’s operation’s director Mark Hay explained: “We have already seen an improvement in the moulding quality thanks to the Weinig Powermat that we bought earlier this year. This second machine means we can give customers an even better quality finish at a competitive price and easily respond to their demands extremely quickly.
