With the addition of four versatile doorway threshold drainage systems to its newly created Urban + Landscape range, ACO Water Management is focusing on the importance of high quality manufacturing and breadth of choice in this critical area of residential development. All four systems, ACO DoorWay Drain, ACO StepDrain, ACO HexDrain Brickslot and ACO DrainMat are compliant with Part M of the Building Regulations and have been developed specifically to provide long-term protection against water ingress in all weather conditions.
“The entrance to any building is arguably one of its most important features as its sets the expectation level for the quality of build,” says Simon Shepherd, Product Manager at ACO Water Management. “In this, the doorway threshold drainage system plays a key role. Not only does it have to complement the visual tone of its surroundings but it also has to be sufficiently robust to maintain optimum performance for many years whilst coping with high levels of foot and other traffic.
“Our expanded Urban + Landscape range of threshold drains is manufactured and certified to the highest possible standards. This provides developers, of whom many have raised legitimate concerns over the poor quality of some systems on the market, with absolute assurance that the installed system will meet and exceed their performance expectations.”
The four systems provide the widest choice of finish and installation options, making them ideal for any style of new build development or refurbishment project. All are compatible with Part M (England and Wales) and Section 4 (Scotland) threshold doorframe assemblies and are available in kit form with all the necessary components required to complete a standard installation.
ACO DoorWay Drain, has a unique two-part stainless steel Heelguard grating that is designed to sit flush against the entrance brickwork, providing complete threshold protection without the need to cut or alter the doorframe. Its lightweight 100% recycled channel body is manufactured using ACO’s patented HexTechnology moulding technique which provides exceptional rigidity and load bearing capacity.
The same HexTechnology is used in the manufacture of ACO HexDrain Brickslot. In this system the channels are fitted with a discreet 10mm wide offset inlet grating that allows it to set directly below and flush against the doorframe. Once installed it is virtually invisible, making it ideal for visually sensitive entrances.
ACO StepDrain is a high quality unobtrusive level threshold drainage system consisting of a slimline stainless steel channel fitted with a cushioned Heelguard, 304-grade stainless steel grating. ACO StepDrain will not require regular cleaning due to its narrow slotted inlet. When cleaning is required, the grating simply lifts off to allow its galvanised silt trap to be emptied.
ACO DrainMat is a robust matwell system that eliminates the risk of threshold water ponding. The standard assembly is available in three sizes and comprises a tough polymer concrete or polypropylene base fitted with a choice of three mat styles: aluminium grid, carpet or galvanised steel mesh. A slim galvanised steel edge unobtrusively holds the selected grating in place and allows the system to sit within block paving, slabs or gravel.
