Due to the huge popularity of the Canberra sliding folding patio door, JELD-WEN has launched a bespoke sizing option.

The new bespoke service allows customers to choose any size of Canberra patio door, up to a width of 4200mm.

Tony Pell, product manager for JELD-WEN, explains:”We wanted to make this hugely popular product more flexible to customer needs. The Canberra is being widely used to bring the outdoors indoors for homes with gardens and patio areas as well as for city apartments with roof terraces. The possibilities are endless with our bespoke sizing option, which means any room in the house could benefit from a Canberra patio door.”

Since its launch at the Ideal Home Show in 2005, the Canberra patio door has become a firm favourite with customers looking to maximise the amount of natural light within their homes. Combining the style and elegance of a classic French door with the space saving benefits of a sliding door, the Canberra allows for the creation of an inspirational light, open and airy living environment. The unique slide and fold mechanism allows for full opening access to the outdoors, which is a quick, simple and convenient way to enjoy the benefits of alfresco living.

In addition to bespoke sizes, the Canberra is now available with the option of decorative fret glazing, in a variety of attractive designs. This allows customers to personalise their Canberra even further to suit their individual style.

Tony Pell continues: “The Canberra has quickly become one of the leading timber patio doors in the market and we have now taken this a stage further to show its huge potential for enhancing people’s homes. There is a Canberra to suit every house type and also a glazing design to match, which means every Canberra can be tailor-made to be the perfect complement to a home.”

Energy efficiency remains a key benefit of the Canberra, which comes with a standard specification of 24mm Low-E insulated glass, which is compliant with Part L and ensures thermal efficiency.

However, customers are now able to upgrade this specification to achieve an even lower U-value, which improves energy efficiency and is even more beneficial to the environment.

` The Canberra is manufactured from 54mm hardwood door panels that can be supplied base-coat stained as standard, or primed as an option for buyers to finish to their own tastes. Alternatively, there is the option of factory-finished options such as the light Oak stain or the more traditional Baltic finish.
