Steel building products provider Lindab
’s partnering arrangement with Fermacell –the leaders in gypsum fibre board manufacturing, is proving to be highly successful with their internal steel partition and lining systems that are being specified for a number of major projects including: schools, apartment blocks, hospitals and social housing schemes.
system combines Lindab
’s expertise in quality; steel dry lining systems with Fermacell’s renowned gypsum fibre boards to provide a range of internal dry lining systems suitable for new build or refurbishment applications.
’s UK Business Manager Jonathan Fennel explains “Together with Fermacell
, we recognised the requirement in the specification market for an internal partition wall which would be affordable and technically superior to those currently available.
The market has responded extremely positively since we introduced the system and I am encouraged with the level of specifications we have completed so far and the continuing interest in the system, despite a downturn in the building industry”
General Manager, Tim Deathridge takes up the story “Since entering into the partnership with Lindab
two years ago, we have been very impressed with their capability and continuing desire to engineer dry lining systems which more than meets our strict performance characteristics. Lindab
’s technical support is excellent and has proven to be a real benefit to our customers as our board is to theirs. We too are encouraged by the level of sales and the diverse range of projects the system has been specified for.”
system offers 7 0.6 minimum gauge steel profiles which are generic to all standard Fermacell
boards. Light in weight, the steel profiles can be quickly erected allowing other trades to commence internal works considerably quicker than if traditional wood framing or block systems had been used.
Bespoke build heights or increased fire rating of projects can be catered for too with profiles up to 2.0 gauge steel available.
’s ‘multi purpose’ dry lining board has excellent fire resistance capabilities with a Class ‘O/ 1’ and European class 2 rating ,it is moisture resistant up to 80% Rh humidity levels and meets BS5234:part2 severe duty impact rating with a single layer is a major factor, making it ideal for schools, sports halls and hospitals etc .
Acoustic performance is assured meeting Part EBB93 and HTM 2045 requirements often with less layers than conventional methods.
is high load bearing and can carry up to 50 kg in weight from a single fixing and once installed the board is finished without the need for finishing plaster. Making Fermacell
the real alternative to plasterboard.
