Stock Energy Rated Doors To Maximise Composite Sales

The Safedoors retail offer has become one of the first composite door ranges to achieve the highest A rating on both solid and glazed doorsets, under the new Door Energy Rating (DER) scheme.

With around 3000 composite doors being installed in private housing each week, the new certifications will help builders’ merchants to service this growth market, with a proven range of high performance composite doors for residential projects, now rated for energy efficiency.

An independent measure of a door’s energy performance, DERs are based on a doorset’s U-value (rate of heat transfer) and air leakage. Performance ratings range from A (most energy efficient) to G (least energy efficient) and follow the same ‘rainbow’ scale commonly used on domestic appliances and by the well-established Window Energy Ratings (WERs) scheme.

DERs have been developed by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC); the government-backed initiative responsible for reducing energy consumption in residential properties.

Safedoors is the new retail offer from Permadoor, the UK’s original composite door manufacturer, providing reliable, friendly service and a proven product range, all supported by the £multi-million Epwin Group.

Commenting on the Door Energy Ratings, Adrian Wyatt of Safedoors, said: “Demand for composite doors is already rising, as growing numbers of homeowners and trade installers switch on to their improved performance, minimal maintenance requirements and high thermal efficiency. In fact, latest industry research estimates that around 3000 composite doors will be installed each week in private residential properties for the next three years.

“With DERs now being rolled out across the door industry, merchants can expect demand to increase further for those doorsets carrying the highest energy ratings.

“Merchants would be wise to recommend energy rated doors to customers to help maximise potential energy savings and with so many A ratings across both solid and glazed doorsets, the Safedoors offer represents the widest choice of energy rated composite doors in the industry.”

The doors are fully compliant with the latest Building Regulations and are proven to be thermally efficient, with some of the lowest U-values in the marketplace.

Part of the Epwin Group, an independent British business with substantial manufacturing and processing plants in the UK, Permadoor has a full suite of accreditations including ISO 9001(quality), ISO 14001 (environmental) and OHAS 18001 for health and safety.
