Steadmans provides building envelope for new £1.4m Tanker facility

Roofing and cladding manufacturer Steadmans has provided composite panels for the complete insulated building envelope of a new facility for W G Tankers, a Staffordshire-based company which hires, sells and repairs tankers.

Comprising a preparation area, a shot blast system and heated spray booths, the 60m x 21m x 7m building represents a £1.4m investment and is used by WG Tankers to repair road and rail tankers and rail carriages. Following its opening, W G Tankers has also won a MoD contract to refurbish military vehicles within the facility.

Steadmans supplied over 1,000 lin metres of 60mm thick AS35 insulated panels in Forest Green for the walls and 600 lin metres of 80mm thick AS35 insulted panels finished in Dobel Nova Grey Mist for the roof.

Architect for the project was The Winter Partnership in Brighton whilst Peter Eaton & Associates based in Derby was the structural engineer. The fabricator, erector and installer was Richardson Construction from Leek, Staffordshire.

Paul Richardson, director of Richardson Construction, said: “Steadmans’ AS35 composite panels have provided an extremely durable, cost effective solution for this project giving W G Tankers a quality building that will help the company realise its expansion plans.

“We received excellent service from Steadmans throughout the construction process and by using their own dedicated transport fleet to deliver the panels they helped us maintain the project’s momentum and completion deadlines. We also benefitted from the company’s clear and pragmatic technical support which was of great benefit throughout the project.”
