Steadmans expands sales team to enhance customer service and enable growth

Roofing, cladding and structural products company Steadmans has expanded its sales team in the UK and Ireland by appointing a business development manager and three area sales managers whilst simultaneously creating dedicated account teams to enhance customer service levels.

Although many of Steadmans’ competitors are contracting due to the current economic climate, the £35m turnover company has seized upon the opportunity to build upon its reputation for quality, service and reliability by restructuring the sales team to provide customers with a personal service.

The changes have been introduced by commercial director, Jonathan Kennedy, and business development manager, Paul Lett, who joined Carlisle-based Steadmans in September 2008 from Ward Insulated Panels. The restructure also sees customers serviced by a dedicated external and internal contact.

Jonathan commented: “Customer service has been at the heart of our business since it was founded in 1911. It has enabled us to become the company we are today, and we are continually looking at ways to improve in this area.

“By employing three new area sales managers to supplement our existing external team we can now provide customers with on the ground support anywhere in the UK and Ireland. This is underpinned by dedicated internal sales people at our factories in Carlisle, Livingston and Banbridge who work in tandem with the external sales person ensuring consistency and quality of service for the customer.”

The three new area sales managers are Jim Dodds, who has responsibility for the North East; Simon Turner, who covers the Midlands and Helen Murphy who looks after Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Paul said: “With the sales team restructure now complete we have started a new business drive that will see us expand Steadmans’ offer within existing markets and take it into new ones. For instance, we have recently entered the composite panels market and are steadily building our presence within it as a manufacturer.

“We are also about to embark on a marketing campaign that will position the company as a viable alternative to the competition due to its demonstrable track record in terms of quality, service and reliability.”

Employing 140 people, Steadmans manufactures a wide range of products including insulated roof and wall panels, galvanised roofing sections, purlins & sheeting rails, metal profile cladding and accessories.
