Schlüter-Systems benefitting from “Olympic effect”
A Leicestershire company has seen the number of projects its products are specified for rise as a result of what it calls an “Olympic effect” ahead of the 2012 Games.
Coalville-based Schlüter-Systems, the UK’s leading provider of tiling systems, says its products are being increasingly requested by hotels, shopping centres, airports and many other locations as they look to upgrade their facilities ahead of this summer’s Olympic Games.
Carl Stokes, Divisional Manager at Schlüter-Systems, comments, “With the eyes of the world set to be firmly focused on this summer’s Olympics we have seen our products specified for a large number of upgrade projects at high profile locations. In the capital these include the Mandarin Oriental hotel, the Westfield London shopping centre and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports, plus the Olympic and Paralympic village itself.
“However it’s not just happening in London. With many visitors and tourists flying into other UK destinations we’re finding similar projects at airports and hotels across the country. Our products are being specified by architects more than ever before as a result of their quality, longevity and the first class support we offer. Even scheduled upgrades are being booked to finish before the Games start so we’re making a real Olympic effort to ensure all are completed and installed to the highest standards.”
He continues, “With approximately 11 million visitors and tourists expected to visit London during the Olympics it’s vital that tile installations can stand up to the many pairs of feet passing by. One of the many positives about our products, such as our Schlüter®-DITRA matting and Schlüter®-DILEX and Schlüter®-SCHIENE profiles are their suitability for areas with a large footfall such as sporting arenas, international airports, shopping centres and college atriums such as this, all of which experience high levels of mechanical stress.
“Whilst invisible beneath the surface we know that these products will be working to the best of their ability and the tile installations will therefore provide a gold standard of service for years to come.”
Carl adds, “Whilst a number of these upgrade projects have been carried out with the Olympics in mind, the partnerships we have been able to forge with specifiers, contractors and suppliers have allowed us to secure further projects scheduled well into the future. This means that our products will continue to be installed at many locations across the country for as long as the Olympic flame burns.”
Schlüter-Systems products are used in all kinds of residential and commercial construction projects both new build and refurbishment. Other recent notable projects include London’s famous 1 Hyde Park, the Four Seasons Hotel Park Lane spa and a Dixon’s Black concept store.
