Say It With Floorcraft! New Logo Flooring For Wilkies
Wilkies, an established flooring distributor based in West Yorkshire moved into new premises at the end of October. The company has expanded from a 65,000 sq foot distribution facility to a 105,000 sq foot purpose built warehouse designed to serve the North of England. The new warehouse has a smart new trade counter complete with a stunning new floor from Tarkett Marley Floors. Wilkies has worked with Tarkett Marley Floors for many years as a distributor and currently stocks eight lines. When the company moved to its new premises in Morley, Leeds it decided that Tarkett’s Granit range was the ideal flooring for their new customer facing trade counter. The trade counter was designed to be bright and cheerful and be conducive to a positive selling environment. The flooring also had to be durable and hardwearing, capable of withstanding high volume traffic and regular cleaning. Granit is one of Tarkett’s IQ (intelligent quality) floorings. It is a low maintenance, durable, homogeneous vinyl floor covering which offers excellent quality, performance and design as well as the best life cycle cost on the market. The Granit sheet is reinforced with Polyurethane (PUR), which means dirt cannot adhere and scuffmarks simply wipe off. As such it needs the absolute minimum of heavy, wet cleaning. No wax or polish is ever needed just dry buffing, throughout the lifetime of the flooring. Maintenance is reduced by up to 30% and is therefore substantially more cost effective in terms of both labour and materials.
For maximum visual impact the design specification allowed for a two-tone, using two different shades of blue, border around a large bold, impactful Wilkies logo, as the centrepiece. This was produced using Tarkett Marley Floors’ Floorcraft service and its creative facility for bespoke flooring design. Working with Adam Lord at Wilkies an initial brief was developed for the look and size of the logo. Computerised detailed design proposals were then approved and detailed floor plans produced. Commenting on the new floor Adam Lord, Wilkies Contracts Manager, said, “The support that Tarkett Marley Floors gave from initial design brief to the installation of the floor covering was exceptional. We are very pleased and proud to have designed floor within our trade counter that offers a warm welcome to our customers whilst being highly durable and easy to maintain.” Tarkett Marley Floors’ Floorcraft service offers designers and architects unlimited scope to develop individual flooring concepts or themes to enliven any interior; colour combinations, borders, features, graphic elements, logos, crests or other motifs – and unique, original designs. However complex the scheme, each piece is cut precisely using computer-controlled sonic cutting technology for perfect fit on site.
