Water and infrastructure iron solutions technology leader Saint-Gobain PAM UK
Ltd has made a further investment at its production facility near Ilkeston in Derbyshire which is significantly reducing delivery lead times to customers.
The company has relocated its flange pipe plant, which has capacity to process over 150 km of water and sewer pipes each year, within the facility so that it is now adjacent to the stock ground and pipe processing plant where the full length pipes are stored and lined.
The investment has resulted in a reduction in the standard lead time from order to stock availability from two weeks to just four working days, as well as reducing the environmental costs of transporting the pipes within the Saint-Gobain PAM UK facility.
Paul Minchin, Managing Director of Saint-Gobain PAM UK commented: “The relocation of the flange pipe plant is a further example of how as a company we are continuing to demonstrate our commitment to enhancing our service to customers through greater responsiveness and faster lead times.
“The flange pipe plant has been substantially redesigned for optimum efficiency as the pipes move through each process stage, allowing for greater flexibility as well as speedier throughput. The reduced need for transport is also helping us towards our goal of continuing to reduce carbon emissions.”
