Saint-Gobain Pam Uk Goes ‘Crosstown’ For Major Project Win

Iron technology leader Saint-Gobain PAM UK Ltd, part of leading international materials company, Saint-Gobain, has clinched a major deal which is seeing the company supply some 2.8km of DN900mm EN545 ductile iron potable water pipe and fittings to a major scheme in Northern Ireland.

Saint-Gobain PAM UK Ltd is supplying the pipe to the Water Service of Northern Ireland for the Crosstown project which runs underneath both carriageway and open ground in Belfast city centre.

Ductile iron was selected ahead of steel and PE pipe for the project due to its ease of installation and commercial considerations. Concrete thrust blocks were not feasible at certain locations due to restricted space in the road section, so RapidTM mechanical anchorage was used to restrain two 90-degree bends laid in a dog-leg underneath the carriageway.
