Decorative timber specialist Richard Burbidge has donated a number of wooden corbels for inclusion in a special formal garden, developed to commemorate the Queen’s 80th birthday.

Located near Newark in Nottinghamshire, the special garden has been created by the Commemoratives Museum Trust; a registered charity dedicated to collecting and preserving items designed to commemorate historical events and personages, including royal celebrations such as coronations, jubilees, marriages and royal visits.

Situated within the walled grounds of the Trust’s Museum, the garden features several wooden structures including rose pergolas and arbours that have been enhanced with Richard Burbidge’s Provincial corbels. Simple and traditional in design, the Provincial corbel is ideal for adding decorative finishing touches to both interior and exterior fixtures.

Designed around the Queen’s 80th year, the garden is set with special trees, shrubs and flowers with an appropriate birthday or royal theme. Open to members of the public by prior appointment, the garden adds to the appeal of the museum, which is housed within the former gardener’s cottage, built in the 1770s.

Commenting on the garden, Mouldings Product Manager Ruth Sperring said: “We were happy to get involved with such an unusual and special project that has been made possible by the work and commitment of the Trust’s volunteers. Our range of corbels can be used to great effect in the garden, as this special design demonstrates.”

Steven Jackson, Secretary of the Commemoratives Museum Trust, said: “Our museum contains over 7000 commemorative items from 1780 to the present day and attracts more than 2000 of our members and visitors each year. As well as mounting an exhibition of 80th birthday items, the Trust’s members were keen to create something permanent to commemorate the occasion and we are delighted that companies including Richard Burbidge have shown their support to our garden project.”

Richard Burbidge offers a range of corbels in a choice of sizes and styles, including Roman, Scroll, Provincial and Vine Leaf designs.
