Rehau forum london opens at the Building Centre
REHAU’s large, new facility at the London Building Centre is the UK showcase for the range of environmentally friendly polymer products within its Building Solutions division.
Officially opened on 18 February by Martin Hitchin, CEO REHAU Limited, it is intended to promote the range to architects and specifiers throughout London and the south east, and to increase awareness amongst this key target audience of the REHAU brand.
The new display centre features some of REHAU’s most innovative products which demonstrate not only its expertise in polymer but in the burgeoning renewable energy sector.
The AWADUKT Thermo ground air heat exchanger for example uses ground source energy to pre warm or pre cool fresh, filtered air delivered into a building as part of a controlled ventilation system, providing significant energy saving in both heating and cooling.
Similarly, the thermally efficient REHAUPolytec 50 curtain walling system on display can maximise the natural light into buildings reducing the reliance on artificial lighting and also act as a carrier for photovoltaic systems.
The centrepiece of the display is an interactive Perspex model showing a contemporary domestic property fitted with the complete range of REHAU Building Solutions products. This includes everything from underfloor heating to rainwater harvesting and flexible hot and cold water pipework, as well as PVC-U window and door systems.
Many of these products have also been supplied by REHAU for the innovative BASF House Project which opened recently at Nottingham University’s School of the Built Environment. The project is designed to demonstrate how Passive House Standards can be successfully achieved in a UK home, and the use of REHAU’s products was paramount in meeting the key project topics of energy efficiency and affordable and economical design.
REHAU has had an office in the London Building Centre since 2005 and its success as a base from which to communicate with specifiers has prompted the company to invest in this larger and more high profile facility.
Mike Moseley, who is head of the REHAU’s London office, said of the new display: “We are situated in what used to be the book shop at the Building Centre and we very much hope that visitors will still come and browse around the display and hopefully pick up useful information and resources. It is an exciting and inviting space which will also be the new venue for our regular seminars and CPD courses.”
