Reducing environmental impact of services supported on flat roofs

Roof-Pro support systems are a modern method of off site fabrications construction that fit with Approved Document Part L2A. By supporting services on Roof-Pro Systems the demand for carbon intensive materials such as concrete and steel is reduced. Casting a slab of concrete for a chiller 2.m x 3m x 0.300m requires 1.8m3 (3,960kg at 2.2T/m3) of concrete. A chiller of that size could be supported on Roof-Pro Systems, where the steel used is small section 50x50 RHS + 76 x 38 RSC (approximate mass 70kg). Reasonable provision shall be made for the conservation of fuel and power in buildings by limiting heat gains and losses:
a1. Through thermal elements and other parts of the building fabric. Roof-Pro systems no cold bridging.
4a. Where a person intends to renovate a thermal element, such work shall be carried out as is necessary to ensure that the building complies with the applicable requirements of Part L of schedule 1. Services supported on Roof-Pro systems facilitates re-roofing and enables upgrade of insulation.
