PV Solar Panels for flat roofs

As part of SIG Design & Technology’s service ‘designing roofs from the deck up’ we are often involved in the right choice of accessories, ancillaries and products that make your roof work harder.  We’re noticing demand for solar photovoltaic panels which can be used on our flat roofs.  SIG Design & Technology is now working in partnership with Redsky Solar Ltd to design and supply their unique and innovative roof mounted solar PV system for flat rooftops.

This is the first PV system for flat roofs that has its module, substructure, and maintenance walkway and cable management system integrated into a single unit.  These units simply click together making it not only easy to install, but also strong under extreme weather conditions.  Red Sky Solar’s pioneering design is a non-penetrative system which uses membrane patches or ballast depending on the roof covering, making it ideal for roof renovations.

The whole system, including the sub-base unit and PV panels are supplied and delivered single manufacturer, so there is no interface problem and no likelihood of delays in installation.  The RedSky Solar system fits on any flat roof and can either be welded using simple membrane patches and/or ballasted, no bolt fixings or penetrations to the waterproofing are necessary.

RedSky Solar’s modular PV system is a very lightweight system (12.9 kg/m2) with high power density, up to 310 Wp modules.  This simple, easy to assemble system is quick to install and guarantees are available from a standard 10 years up to 25 years.

SIG Design & Technology takes the risk out of roof design, offering a genuinely independent choice of waterproofing for flat, green, zinc and copper roofs. Designs are covered by our PI insurance and we’re part of SIG plc, a FTSE250 company.
