A team of ten dedicated staff and customers from leading merchant Plumbing Trade Supplies(PTS) in Aberdeen has hiked to the top of one of the highest mountains in Scotland, raising £933for Cancer Research UK.
Hiking for more than seven hours to raise the impressive amount, the team tackled one of the hardest treks offered by the legendary Scottish Munros. Lochnagar sits a staggering 3789 feet above sea level and is well known for its steep cliffs. .
Jim Ross, Branch Manager for PTS Aberdeen said:
“We knew this hike would be a challenge for all of us. It became increasingly difficult the further we ascended but spirits remained high throughout the climb.
“We are very proud to have raised almost £1000 for PTS’ chosen charity, Cancer Research UK. Knowing that we were raising such vital funds kept us going towards the end when the blisters had started to really set in!”
The Munros are a collection of 283 mountain tops, the most famous being Ben Nevis. Each trek poses challenging conditions for even the most experienced climbers.
Jim concludes: “The staff at PTS would like to thank customers; Rob Walker from C&R Plumbing and Heating, Graham Reid and Raymond Hutcheon for taking time out to complete this challenge with us, as well as the team at OSO Hotwater who provided the refreshments for the event. It was an excellent way of building on existing customer relations and we look forward to our next fundraising activity once our feet have stopped hurting.”
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity, funding the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses in over 30 towns across the UK.
