Protect people and property with ACO’s new anti-flooding devices

ACO Building Drainage, the UK’s leading specialist in drainage systems and corrosion resistant building products, has introduced a new range of backflow valves developed to provide unrivalled protection for both private and commercial properties that are vulnerable to flooding. Called the ACO QUATRIX® series, these automated anti-flooding devices are ideal for grey and black water applications, offering extremely reliable operation with a long service life, and are simple to install and maintain using standard 110 and 160mm diameter pipes.

Designed, manufactured and tested in accordance to BS EN 13564, the ACO QUATRIX® valves are designed to be installed in the discharge pipes from premises, to prevent flooding that might be caused by excessive storm water or pumping station failures resulting in a high backflow from the main sewer system.

ACO QUATRIX® units incorporate a pressure sensor located in the valve body. Working in conjunction with a high torque DC motor, this is used to control a motorised flap, which automatically closes against a watertight seal whenever a backflow from the sewer exists. The motor then automatically reopens the watertight flap once the backflow from the sewer abates. These high performance devices ensure reliable operation in even the most polluted black water conditions and also feature a secondary flap with manual override that can be closed during construction or refurbishment programmes to prevent odours entering the building or to act as a failsafe should the first flap fail.

Rated at IP67, the motor and valve body can be used safely in locations that are susceptible to storm water flooding, as all electrical connections are fully sealed against the ingress of moisture or other contaminants. In addition, a separate IP56 rated remote control box is ideal for use in basements, utility rooms and plant room locations to provide a visual and audible indication of backflow and valve status at all times. In the event of mains power failure, a battery back up facility ensures reliable operation for 24 hours until mains power is restored.

The ACO QUATRIX® models form part of a family of proven anti-flooding technology from ACO Building Drainage, which also includes the JUNIOR® combined drainage gully and backflow valves for use in utility rooms, basements or plant rooms in new build or refurbishment projects and the TRIPLEX® backflow valves for dependable flood protection in grey water applications.
