The UK’s largest joinery manufacturer JELD-WEN, in partnership with Bodycote warringtonfire, has invested in a new facility, which will provide environmental and mechanical testing as well as being the home of a new European Research & Development Centre for JELD-WEN.

The new UKAS-accredited centre, which is based in Sheffield, will be staffed and managed by Bodycote warringtonfire and will undertake a variety of British and European Standard fitness for purpose testing for UK door and window manufacturers. This includes security, weather performance, product stability performance and thermal insulation. Bodycote warringtonfire certification, as a Notified Certification Body can also offer CE Marking for products tested at the laboratory.

“We are looking forward to the benefits of a rapid transition from a theoretical assessment of a new product to a fully certified solution,” explains Ian Purkis, General Manager at JELD-WEN’s European Research & Development centre. “Ultimately it will be our customers across the UK and Europe who will benefit, as we will be able to respond much quicker to develop products to meet with their requirements as we strive to achieve the very best in global innovation.”

Mark West, manager at the new testing centre, explains: “This new facility increases the range and capacity of our testing services, helping manufacturers bring their products to market more quickly, with the authority, independence and professional service for which Bodycote warringtonfire are renowned.”
