JELD-WEN, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of windows, doors and stairs, has introduced an exciting new public sector brochure, containing up to date information on its sustainable and energy efficient products suitable for use by local authorities and housing associations.

“The Public Sector Guide is an invaluable tool for anyone involved in the specification of timber windows, external or internal doors or stairs,” explains Chris Moyes, Public Sector Manager at JELD-WEN. “It gives an overview of our product range and how we partner with local authorities and consult with residents where necessary to ensure they receive products that meet their requirements in terms of choice, thermal performance and environmental benefits.”

The guide includes details of JELD-WEN’s new ‘Ultra energy rated windows’, which are perfect for maximising energy efficiency and helping tenants to control the costs of rising fuel bills. These market leading A-E energy rated windows are available in the popular Stormsure and Sliding Sash specifications, which are manufactured from sustainable timber, providing public sector specifiers with an excellent environmental choice.

The guide also gives information on JELD-WEN’s sustainability policy, which includes the use of PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certified timber. All JELD-WEN’s timber windows have been manufactured according to the British Woodworking Federation’s Timber Window Accreditation Scheme and are BSI Kitemark. Many of the company’s operations across the UK have also achieved the environmental standard ISO14001. The company provides a 30 year manufacturer’s guarantee on its windows and hi build factory painted or stained windows, with ten and six year guarantees respectively.

The public sector guide also contains details of JELD-WEN’s composite doorset range. The company’s composite doors are widely used by social housing providers throughout the UK because of their robust construction, high security and low maintenance. JELD-WEN’s composite doorsets also offer some of the best thermal performances available on the market.

JELD-WEN’s windows and doorsets are available to meet the Secured by Design specification. This is the police approved specification for enhancing and protecting the security of a home. Particularly important for the public sector, this accreditation of their products ensures that they comply with BS7950:1997 for windows and BS476 part 22 for doors and as such, perform to the highest standards of security performance.

JELD-WEN also offers a resident consultation and liaison service and manages the process to ensure greater tenant satisfaction.

Chris Moyes explains: “We have a really strong offer to the public sector, backed up with over 10 years’ experience in working with local authorities to meet their needs. Our public sector range has been carefully chosen to meet the needs of councils and residents, to ensure their homes are more energy efficient and provide lower carbon emissions. By releasing this Public Sector guide, our aim is to demonstrate that our timber windows and composite doorsets provide the ultimate in energy efficiency, low maintenance, enhanced security and good value for money.”

The guide also includes a wide range of paint grade, veneered and moulded doors, which are ideally suited to social housing situations. These internal doors include a wide choice of robust, aesthetically pleasing and affordable options, with many styles available as fire doors. This includes Readyfit internal doorsets, which are supplied fully assembled with ironmongery, lining, architrave and doorstops. JELD-WEN recently released a new flat entrance door, which is fully compliant with Building Regulations Part M, B, E and L.

In addition, the guide contains details of JELD-WEN’s specification for common flights of timber stairs, which are fully compliant with all relevant British Standards and are suitable for use in multi-occupancy dwellings.
