New project puts Polypipe Terrain right at the top of the pile

The specification of prefabricated soil and waste drainage systems for a new London landmark building has helped Polypipe Terrain products come out on top of the competition. The company has supplied over 2,100 prefabricated FUZE TM drainage stacks for the new 147 metre Brookfield Strata SE1 residential development, which is the tallest residential building in South London and which will act as a centrepiece for the redevelopment of the surrounding Elephant and Castle area.

This project has provided an excellent illustration of Polypipe Terrain’s ability to work in partnership with a customer and supply them with genuinely bespoke prefabricated products. “For Strata SE1 we worked very closely with the M & E contractor, Briggs and Forrester MEP. This allowed us to create FUZE TM stacks which met their requirements exactly and also  eliminated problems at the design and manufacturing stages,” explains Polypipe Terrain’s Stuart Herd.

“Combining this type of value engineering with the  ability to manufacture the bespoke products off-site in factory controlled conditions allows us to deliver many benefits to the contractor in terms of higher levels of product quality, shorter installation schedules and less need for skilled labour on-site.”

Polypipe Terrain’s FUZE TM product range offers many advantages over cast iron and other traditional systems. Included in the range are a comprehensive selection of pipes, bends, electrofusion couplers, branches, branch balls and access pipes which can be combined to create a top-to-bottom solution for virtually any above-ground drainage requirement. The option to create bespoke project-specific components extends this versatility and provides maximum flexibility in the design process.

The 43-storey Brookfield Strata SE1 development was built by Brookfield Multiplex Brookfield Europe and contains 408 apartments. It will eventually be joined by further towers.
