Legrand has supplied a comprehensive cable management solution for a landmark development that is transforming the business district of Manchester.

The Spinningfields’ project, which extends from the city’s Deansgate, will ultimately comprise 4.5 million sq ft, including 2.37 million sq ft of flexible new office space, 391 luxury apartments, a five-star hotel and 300,000 sq ft of retail space for fashion, cafés and restaurants in twelve signature buildings – each building the result of an architectural competition. Set within generous public spaces, the development also includes four new landscaped squares and is being developed by Allied London in partnership with Manchester City Council.

Specified by electrical contractors NG Bailey and supplied by electrical wholesaler Hagemeyers’ Salford branch, Legrand’s cable management solution incorporates Swifts tray, ladder and supporting system equipment, together with Salamandre trunking, and runs throughout buildings at Three and Four Hardman Square

In addition, Legrand designed a bespoke floor box and trunking system for use in the double height reception foyer of the buildings.

“For example, in Building Three there was an HV ring supported throughout its run by incorporating special radii bends. These were required to mirror the 6.6 kV 4C 185mm sq cable bend radii and Legrand engineered them to suit without any problem."
