Legrand has supplied wiring devices and cable management solutions for a £25million new build school in London – an order won primarily on the quality of its products.

Saint Paul's Academy, Greenwich was established in 2005 through the Department for Education and Schools Academies programme and is due to move into new purpose built premises in 2010. The electrical contractor for the project was Croydon-based TSSR Holdings Limited – a company that has built its reputation on delivering excellent quality work for a wide range of repeat clients.

With such a reputation being far easier to lose than gain, TSSR maintains meticulous standards in all aspects of project specification. This meant it asked all interested companies to present the products it felt would provide the ideal electrical backbone for the new building.

Legrand area sales manager, Colin Ball said: “As expected the specification process was tough, especially as we were up against our main competitors, but I was always confident in the quality of our products.”

When the order was confirmed it was clear this confidence had been well-placed. The specification was extensive and comprised Synergy White wiring devices including grid solutions, metal clad wiring devices and Hypra sockets, plus over 2km of Salamandre trunking, Swifts ladder, perforated tray and wire tray, and DLP Contour perimeter trunking.

John Allen, a TSSR project manager, said: “Our reputation is for quality installations and we demand the products and systems we use are of a quality that enhances this reputation.

“Legrand came to us with an excellent selection of products that met our stringent criteria. Add to that the fact they provided us with an ability to deal with one company for so many aspects of the installation and it really was an easy choice to go with them.”

Colin Ball added: “When you look at just how much of this electrical installation is covered by our solutions it’s hard to understand why Legrand isn’t instantly associated with total electrical solutions.”

“That said, with a little more awareness I’m sure many more specifiers and contractors will quickly appreciate our across the board expertise and the benefits of dealing with just one manufacturer for all elements of an installation.”

Legrand has a 15 per cent share of the global cable management market and a 19 per cent share of the global wiring device market, making it the world leader in both areas.
