Legrand’s power distribution division has secured a significant order for an 80,470 sq ft new build commercial property on the Quorum Business Park in Newcastle-upon-Tyne – its second major order from the Park’s developers in a matter of months.
Specified by consulting engineer, MDA, Legrand is supplying its Electrak 24 underfloor power track, floor boxes and cleaner’s grommets, plus the Electrak Lightrak lighting control system combined with a 40amp Buscom busbar, for installation throughout Quorum 11.
The nature of this specification is virtually identical to the previous order, which was installed in the 90,000sq ft Quorum 12 during 2010.
Adam Clark, a Legrand specification sales engineer, said: “We secure a lot of specifications for both power track and Lightrak, but it’s rare that the two are specified together, which when you consider the benefits to the installer of dealing with just one company for two key parts of an electrical fit out is something we are actively striving to rectify.”
Electrak, alongside Zucchini and Legrand’s power products, forms the company’s power distribution division. Created to strengthen Legrand’s powered by specialists business strategy, the approach of the division is aimed at ensuring customers see Legrand as the sum of all its market leading parts as opposed to just one particular specialism.
“In the past, different contractors knew us for different product areas, whether it be power track, floor boxes or Lightrak, but perhaps weren’t aware of the full scope of our offering,” continued Adam.
“Today our aim is to highlight the full scope of our capabilities – and not just across power distribution, but also cable management and wiring devices. This strategy is certainly bearing fruit as an ever increasing number of companies are widening the scope of their specifications, as was the case with Quorum 11 and 12.”
Brian Russell of the project’s mechanical and electrical consultant, Norstead, said: “We were delighted with Legrand, in terms of product and service, across both aspects of the Quorum 12 specification and so had no hesitation in going back to them for Quorum 11. And I’m certain that as more properties on the Park come on line we will go back to them time and again.”
