With Building Schools for the Future a national priority, Knauf Drywall has released a free up-to-the-minute Education Sector guide to specially tailored plaster and plasterboard solutions. Part of Knauf Drywall’s Design Partner Series, the newly updated 40-page guide gives architects and specifiers a comprehensive overview of design considerations, BSF-ready drywall solutions and innovations in drylining and plastering. The free Education Sector guide is available from the Knauf Drywall Literature Line: 08700 613700, or online at

Bob Stark, Knauf Drywall Marketing Manager, says school and college environments present a specific design challenge for walls, ceilings and floors. “With our significant experience of education projects we have developed a range of proven systems meeting the acoustic, fire performance and durability requirements in the Building Regulations, Building Bulletins, and the BSF programme. At the same time we have complemented our range of drywall solutions for cost-effective building and minimal future maintenance with new specialist systems and plastering innovations – giving specifiers the widest possible choice of traditional and modern methods,” he says.

The new guide has four BSF-ready drywall solutions combining the most common acoustic and fire performance criteria with high impact resistance. It also provides wall liner and ceiling solutions. For special circumstances there are solutions with even higher acoustic or impact resistance, and systems such as Knauf Aquapanel for tile-backing in ‘wet’ areas such as showers. The guide also details Knauf Drywall’s Projection Plaster systems, which provide a time-saving modern method for traditional quality finishes.

New to the Knauf Drywall portfolio for education are the Brio Dry Floor Screed system – a gypsum fibreboard ideal for use with underfloor heating installations, Aquapanel Exterior – a fibre cement board providing a backing for render finishes, and Futurepanel – Knauf Drywall’s pioneering 10kg/m2 carbon neutral plasterboard which provides an attractive ‘green’ option.

Full details of all the Education Sector solutions can be found in the new free guide, available from the Knauf Drywall Literature Line: 08700 613700, or online at
