Kingspan Solar’s Varisol Awarded ‘Sustainable Product of the Year‘

Kingspan Solar, part of Kingspan Renewables Ltd, has been awarded ‘Sustainable Product of the Year’ for its newly launched product Varisol, the world’s first modular vacuum tube solar thermal collector. The company celebrated the win at this year’s Heating and Ventilating Review (HVR) Awards, held at St Ermin’s Hotel in London’s Westminster on the 22nd of September.

The sustainable Varisol modular solar thermal vacuum tube collector was recognised for delivering top quality performance matched with total flexibility. The product, which incorporates Kingspan Solar’s market-leading Thermomax Direct Flow (DF) vacuum tube collectors,  provides a modern and adaptable alternative to the rigid manifold system by combining  a unique design with high performance polymer materials to allow solar thermal vacuum tubes to simply ‘click-fit’ together to create collectors of varying sizes. This means collectors can be sized to the exact needs of the end user within the space available.

Cameron Holroyd, Kingspan Renewables GB managing director says: “We are absolutely delighted that Varisol’s unique benefits have been recognised with this award win. We launched this product earlier this year, following three years of development, to provide a highly efficient and cost-effective product that not only meets the demands of the end user, but also benefits the installer, distributor and environment.

“The HVR Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the building services industry, so being presented with ‘Sustainable Product of the Year’ marks a huge success for Kingspan Solar and further cements our position as a market-leading renewable solutions provider.”

Varisol is suitable for both domestic and commercial applications and is completely expandable so customers can grow their solar systems as their needs change. Precision sizing means customers only need to pay for exactly what they need. The technology is quick and easy to install, and distributors benefit from improved stock control, with no manifolds to stock or invest capital in. It is also environmentally friendly, using 100 percent recyclable polymer material.

Varisol has lowered its carbon footprint by eliminating the need for brazing and welding as well as energy intensive materials, such as copper and aluminium. The system is also more lightweight and requires less packing and boxes, therefore minimising the impact of transport.

The product is easy to order, store and install and with no heavy components, the solar thermal vacuum tubes can be rapidly assembled. They also provide more versatile installation options by fitting around windows or potential design issues, such as dormer bungalows and sky lights.

Varisol incorporates Thermomax DF vacuum tube collectors, which are specifically tailored for Northern European climates and deliver an unrivalled transfer of solar energy into heat, providing up to 70 per cent of hot water requirements throughout the year.

Complete solar packages from Kingspan Solar are now also available with Varisol vacuum tube collectors and are custom-designed to suit each specific application, including all components required for the complete installation.
