Kingspan Expands its Solar Offering with the Launch of Varisol

Kingspan Solar, part of Kingspan Renewables Ltd, has unveiled Varisol, the world’s first modular vacuum tube solar thermal collector at MCE 2010 (Mostra Convegno Expocomfort, Milan).

Varisol incorporates Kingspan Solar’s market-leading Thermomax Direct Flow (DF) vacuum tube collectors and retains their top quality performance, whilst delivering total flexibility. A modern and adaptable alternative to the rigid manifold system, Varisol combines a unique design with high performance polymer materials to allow vacuum tubes to simply ‘click-fit’ together to create solar thermal collectors of varying sizes. This means collectors can be sized to the exact needs of the end user within the space available.

Vacuum tubes are pre-assembled with the Varisol connector for ease of installation and collectors can hold up to 150 vacuum tubes. The technology is suitable for both domestic and commercial applications and is completely expandable so customers can grow their solar systems as their needs change. It also comes with a ten-year guarantee when installed by a Kingspan Solar Accredited Installer.

Comments Cameron Holroyd, Commercial Director of Kingspan Solar: “Following three years in development and testing, we’re extremely proud to be launching Varisol. It is a highly efficient and cost-effective offering that not only meets the demands of the end user; it also benefits the installer, distributor and environment. Precision sizing means customers only need to pay for exactly what they need. For installers they are quick and easy to install and distributors benefit from improved stock control with no manifolds to stock or invest capital in. They are also environmentally friendly, using 100 percent recyclable polymer material.”

Varisol has lowered its carbon footprint by eliminating the need for brazing and welding as well as energy intensive materials, such as copper and aluminium. The system is also more lightweight and requires less packing and boxes, therefore minimising the impact of transport.

The product is easy to order, store and install and with no heavy components, the solar thermal vacuum tubes can be rapidly assembled. They also provide more versatile installation options by fitting around windows or potential design issues, such as dormer bungalows and sky lights.

Varisol incorporates Thermomax DF vacuum tube collectors, which are specifically tailored for Northern European climates and deliver an unrivalled transfer of solar energy into heat, providing up to 70 per cent of hot water requirements throughout the year.

The vacuum inside each tube provides perfect insulation by protecting the system from outside influences, such as cold, wet or windy weather, resulting in quality performance all-year-round. The vacuum tubes also allow energy from the sun to be collected efficiently and effectively, so that solar-heated water is readily available. The rapid conductivity and transfer of energy into heat means the collectors are up to 30 per cent more effective than traditional flat plate panel equivalents.

Complete solar packages from Kingspan Solar are now also available with Varisol vacuum tube collectors and are custom-designed to suit each specific application, including all components required for the complete installation. Solar packages are designed to provide the specifier, installer and end user the ultimate solar solution. They also include the highest level of customer support from initial advice, through to bespoke design, installation, final commissioning and technical support.
